Here are some ways in which you can help a friend or loved one quit
-
“Supporting a loved one while they quit smoking or vaping is one of the most important things you can do to help them have a longer, healthier life” (MaineQuitLink).
-
Offer them encouragement and support through validation and patience.
-
Make quitting easier for them by providing them with gum, toothpicks, or mints in order to fulfill the need for an oral fixation.
-
Keep them and their minds busy by making plans, especially at non-smoking and vaping spaces
-
Make sure you are not judging or nagging them if they slip up, they still need positive support
